FAQ

General

  • Do I need to keep my Hammerhead connected for weather to work?
Yes and no, once weather has loaded at home this will continue to work. However, for the most up to date weather ensure that your Hammerhead app is connected to continue receiving the most accurate weather updates for your location.
  • How do I update my App Settings?
Open the myWindsock extension on your Karoo and scan the QR code to connect your device to your myWindsock account. You can then change settings for your device here https://mywindsock.com/apps/
  • How do I receive myWindsock post analysis?
At this time you must connect myWindsock to your Strava account. This will give you access to each of your rides for full myWindsock analysis. Connect to Strava here.

Errors & Issues

Always ensure you have the latest version, how to update app.

  • I am struggling to get data
This is usually occuring when using WiFi. See the connections tips page.
  • I am connected to WiFi but I still see “No Data”
This indicates that your device is waiting for a GPS signal. This is required so that we can retrieve accurate weather data to your current location. See the connections tips page.
  • “Connection Required” appeared during a ride
This usually corrects itself within a few minutes.
  • Screen Freeze
This is a known issue with the Karoo 2 and the Forces data field. Don’t panic, your ride is still recording. This issue was resolved in version 2.8, please update. If you continue to experience an issue please remove the Forces data field from your ride profile.
  • The Forces data field is erratic
This data field relies on good barometric data from your Karoo which is supported by the GPS signal. Erratic data is sometimes seen early in a ride when the device is still calibrating elevation. The Karoo 3 behaves better than the Karoo 2 when it comes to elevation precision.

Data Fields

  • How does the Forces data field work?
This is a very powerful field giving you a breakdown of each resistance or force. The whole bar indicates 100% of your current power. The coloured bars show the distribution of Rolling Resistance, Gravity and Air Resistance.

When Air Resistance is largest you should prioritise aerodynamics, if Rolling and Gravity are larger than Air Resistance power output can be prioritised. More about the data fields here.
  • Does the Forces data field know how aerodynamic I am?
Yes for power meters users, the Forces data field is continually updated with your current aerodynamic efficiency (CdA). If no power meter is found, your default CdA setting is used in the calculation.
  • What units are wind speeds given in?
The extension will show wind speeds using the Karoo’s units set for speed. This will be either MPH or KPH.
